Nearly there

As the sun nearly sets on another year, thoughts inevitably turn to the future, and the year ahead.  This year has had its ups and downs – thankfully mostly ups – with the downs reminding me that life is too short and thus to be lived to the full.  I lost focus a little towards the second half of the year when it came to fighting the debt, and consistently staying off the sugar.  It’s been a really busy & sometimes pretty stressful last 3-4 months, and I’ve realised that when I try to do EVERYTHING I just can’t manage, so I’m picking my battles. Debt isn’t increasing, it’s just not going down so quickly.  I’ve already set my budget and repayment plan up of the whole of 2018, so that’s good.  I’ve paid for all of my February holiday (except spending money) and some of my July holiday, and i’ve planned in debt repayments around both to allow me to have both holidays without credit-carding anything.  Definitely a change from the past!  I’ll clear all the debt next year and can then start saving up, so all is good 🙂

I’ll nail the sugar thing again in January too.  I’ve got to the point it’s so close to Christmas that I’m not going to stress about trying to be perfect, and just get back on it in January.  The first of the month is a Monday; can you get ANY better day/date combo for starting a new year, and a new life?!  I think not.  I’m really looking forward to next year.  I’m not making any resolutions, it’s just more of the same of all the good stuff that worked this year.  I’m already thinking about my main race for next year, the Cotswold Classic middle distance triathlon in August.  I’m back at the gym working on building up basic strength and mobility, and getting into a good routine which I can build on throughout next year.  Having a focus of a race I’m excited about is great.  I’m nervous but really looking forward to getting back into triathlon.  It’s been a while and I’ve missed it.

So that’s it really.  Not long until Christmas and the New Year, so thanks to all my lovely friends and family for making 2017 a good one, and I look forward to catching up with lots of you in 2018.  I wish you all merry Christmas, and a very happy New Year indeed.

Pea xx
